Young Climate Champions Program

About the Program

India has the world’s largest youth population, and it is vital to inspire them to become Youth Champions for Climate Action. They must recognize the urgency of the challenge and take immediate steps to address it. With the average age of the Indian population at 29 years, young people represent a powerful force in driving the nation’s development while also helping to reduce carbon footprints.

The Earth Care Awards is proud to announce the Young Climate Champions Programme. As part of the JSW – The Times of India 13th Earth Care Awards, the programme will engage young minds through specially designed workshops across colleges in India. Its objective is to identify and celebrate innovative, practical climate solutions that can be implemented and scaled to create a lasting positive impact on the environment.

This initiative is being launched in collaboration with Earth Day Network India.

Program Overview

Under this programme, college connect activities will be conducted across institutions in 10 Indian states to engage climate‑enthusiast students. These activities aim to build awareness among the youth and encourage them to compete for the Earth Care Award, earning recognition as Youth Champions for Climate Action.

The programme will feature experts delivering specially designed presentations (both online and hybrid) to students across multiple states. These sessions will be dynamic and data‑driven, covering topics such as the benefits of adopting LIFE skills, the importance of waste management and circularity, the urgency of climate action, biodiversity protection, sustainable urban development, and methods for managing and conserving water resources. The presentations are expected to directly reach around 20,000 youth, and through them, more than 200,000 peers across the country.

Following this, applicants will be invited to submit innovative and practical solutions addressing their chosen category. The jury will then evaluate these submissions and select the Youth Champions.
